Environmentally Friendly Options
The impact that mobile telephone base stations have on the environment places immense pressure on Network Providers to find more visually acceptable and thus environmentally friendly solutions.
With the ever growing demand for both GSM and UMTS base stations, combined with the public and local authorities reluctance to accept visually intrusive towers, poles, structures and enclosures, alternative and innovative solutions to BTS design and construction must be found.
Custom Designed Solutions
Mivan’s experience in both the design and construction of camouflaged base stations in a number of European countries has been extensive. The innovative designs and construction techniques have made it possible for planning approval to be given for sites in the most sensitive of situations.
A socially responsible attitude and the use of discrete antennae allow locally sensitive issues to be taken into account when designing base stations.
Microwave Translucent Polymers
Mivan’s depth of experience with specialist materials such as microwave translucent polymers is essential in being able to come up with the most cost effective, yet environmentally friendly solutions. These materials allow the free passage of microwave signals, but appear opaque to the visual segment of the electro-magnetic spectrum, thus allowing antennae to work normally but be concealed from view.
This state of the art technology allows architecturally significant buildings and structures to be utilised as a BTS, without significant visual impact on existing facades.
Use of Traditional Materials In other locations, the shrouding of enclosure buildings using materials in tune with the locality, can be a simple, yet very effective way of making a site acceptable to the local population and planners.
The harmony of materials allows 21st century technology to be installed in a rural environment without obvious visual conflict.
