Last night, Mivan won the design integration category at the Building Magazine Specialist Contractor Awards in London.

Mivan picked up the Award through their work with EMBT/RMJM on the Scottish Parliament Project. 200 Mivan staff were based on-site, managing, design-developing and fitting-out the building over a two-year period. Mivan's design co-ordinators and their staff developed the client brief and concepts into full working drawings. Ross Milne, Senior Project Architect at RMJM for the Scottish Parliament said "In the boiling pot of media interest and political debate due to cost and time over-runs, the two teams merged with one common goal of delivering the fit-out to the highest standards in accordance with the design vision of EMBT / RMJM. During the relationship we constantly pushed the limited range of materials to maximum effect utilising Mivan’s technical knowledge and in particular their excellent joinery skills." "The final result of the Parliament interior is testimony to great teamwork pulling together to produce a timeless piece of architecture. Mivan proved to be fully up to the task and is a clear example of a modern contractor taking the best of traditional carpentry skills whilst using technology to create an iconic interior design to house and inspire a fledgling institution." The project has emerged as one of the world's landmark buildings and won the prestigious Stirling Prize a couple of weeks ago at a glittering ceremony in Edinburgh. Last night's Awards were in front of over 600 guests at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in the centre of London. Mivan was shortlisted at last year's awards in the interior fit-out category. This is the third year of the Specialist Contractor Awards and has become one of the Industry's key events in the Construction calendar. « Go Back
