Mivan has a dedicated in-house design team responsible for developing an initial design concept into a workable solution with detailed design and specifications. The team forms a very capable technical resource with the capacity to deliver large and complex fit-outs, effectively, on time and within budget.

This team generally comprises:

  • Design Co-ordinators
  • Chartered Architects & Engineers
  • Architectural Technicians
  • Information Controllers
  • Skilled Craftsmen

All staff undergo a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training plan with specific emphasis on regular safety and CDM updates.

Mivan has a clear design process in place to help ensure a safe, efficient and approved design. The main aspects of this process include:

  • Developing a list of queries for consultation with the client and the designers
  • Liaising with the client and the designers to ensure an efficient and buildable design, and to discuss and clarify points from the conceptual drawings and technical specification
  • Providing input regarding hazard identification and risk assessments for the Health & Safety file
  • Identification of long lead-in items to be procured
  • Identification of potential value engineering options
  • Researching possible materials and potential suppliers
  • Developing a schedule of drawings, mock-ups to be produced, and a drawing programme
  • Producing fabrication drawings for approval by the client and the designers prior to manufacture
  • Liaising with other contractors working in the fit-out area and neighbouring areas to ensure that all works are co-ordinated effectively
  • Reviewing site surveys. Measurements taken will be checked against the working drawings issued by the designers and the client
  • Providing all necessary 'as built' drawings for Operations & Maintenance manuals

To ensure that Mivan design to current Building Regulations the Company has put procedures in place for all stages of the design, manufacture and installation of fit-out projects. It is the established policy of the Company to operate a Quality Assurance System to the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.

Mivan's comprehensive manufacturing facility links seamlessly with the design development process. The Design Team use the latest software technology including Solid Works 2008 (3-D Professional Engineering software) and AutoCAD LT.
